DMCC Round 2 – Drift Posse strikes again!!

So, DMCC Round 2 at St. Eustache Speedway in Montreal, Quebec has gone down and the results are in: another place atop the podium for Pat Cyr!

Also, another awesome placing in the top 16 by Drift Posse’s vicious newcomer to DMCC, Brad Carlton, who ended up on the losing end of an intense battle with the number 2 driver this year in Matt Waldin. Carlton put up a fight though, taking Waldin to a “One more time”, as well as chewing on Matt’s rear bumper like the animal he is. With this qualify, Carlton has jumped into the number 9 spot in the rankings, putting him into contention for a top 10 finish in his first year of professional competition.

Pat Cyr’s trip up to the podium was not an easy one, being pitted against fellow Ontario driver Justin Forsyth in the top 16 round. Unfortunately, a crash in the first corner ended Forsyth’s day early, and sent Cyr up to the top 8 round to go against “Steady” Freddy Girard, the former 2-time reigning DMCC series Champ. Girard put up a struggle, forcing Cyr into several “One more time” rounds leading to a spinout by Fred in a following lap. This would put Cyr through to the Top 4 round against number 2 contender Matt Waldin!! Pat Cyr was out for blood to avenge the defeat of his teammate at the hands of Waldin, and blood was what he got. An intense round of tandem led to Cyr’s hand getting raised by the hot hand-raiser girl, which meant Cyr would move on to the Top 2 round of competition! In a total underdog-story surprise, pro-am competitor Marc Landreville in a SR powered 180sx climbed the other side of the tournament ladder, to meet Pat Cyr at the top (Note: I mention that Marc’s car is SR powered to point out that in a roster stacked primarily with V8 powered cars, the Top 2 for Round 2 consisted of both 4-cylinder vehicles. You can take what you will from it). An intense battle ensued, pushing the drivers into three “One more time” rounds. Before the third “One more time”, Landreville decided to change tires. Unfortunately, this changing of equipment seemed to do more bad than good, as on a leading lap Landreville gained a great head of speed into the first corner, but bobbled somewhere along the line and ended up in a bad understeer…headed straight for the wall. The carnage that followed resulted in what looks to have been a fairly badly hurt 180sx, but fortunately no injury to the driver. And there ya have it!! It wasn’t an easy trip up the ladder, but Pat Cyr and the little green Hachi have done it once again!!

Needless to say, things have started picking up in the Drift Posse camp, and as we speak projects are underway to expand operations immensely by the time Round 3 rolls around at Ste. Croix Speedway. Keep your eyes open for a video, to be posted within the next couple of days, as well as for our merch, which we will be premiering at DMCC Round 3!!

That’s all for now!
More updates later!
