Well, I’ve been on a bit of a web updating rampage lately, since I haven’t had very much in the way of things to shoot with my camera. With that in mind, I’ve just added a bunch of pictures taken by local photographer Andrew Gregg who spent Round 4 of DMCC this year basically being the Drift Posse official photographer. A rad dude, with some rad pictures! Check ‘em out at the Graphic Imagery page!

Insiders may have heard rumblings of expansion amongst the Drift Posse ranks, but now you can consider it 100% Official Drift Posse news!

Come the 2010 season we will be welcoming two of the hungriest, most vicious Ontario drivers we could find: Peter Chrisikopoulos, and Chris Budgell. Both drivers have spent plenty of time honing their skills at the Ontario tracks, and are ready to broaden their horizons with Peter Chrisikopoulos entering the Drift Mania Canadian Championship Professional series, and Chris Budgell entering the DMCC Pro-Am Series. Make sure to take a look at the Drivers/Crew page to see who these dudes are! It’s looking like it’s gonna be yet another exciting season for the ever-growing Drift Posse! Keep your eyes open for more news to come!

Something to whet the appetite….

Howdy there, Posse Fans!!! You may have noticed that I haven’t been completely awesome about keeping things on here up to date and everything…that said though, I’m at least a lot better at my job as a video editor, and have finally gotten a vid cut of some winter drifting. Snow has been kinda off and on around here, so it’s been hard to get shoots going. Anyway, here’s the vid, so enjoy!!!

CYRIOUS DRIFT 2009 – Year-in-Review

The “on-season” is quickly coming to an end here in 2009, and it was one hell of a year for the Drift Posse. Round 5 at St. Eustache ended with a bang, with Pat Cyr finishing at the top of the podium, taking out Matt Waldin and Marc Landreville in exciting fashion, and becoming the man-to-beat, so to speak, putting 3/5 first place finishes under his belt this year. In the end, with Pat finishing 2nd overall in the DMCC rankings, and Brad Carlton finishing 9th overall in his first year of DMCC, the future is most definitely looking bright for the Drift Posse.  So, what better way to cap off the season than by releasing the only Cyrious Drift video to be produced this year? This video follows Pat through his entire 2009 drift season, with a little goofing off as per the usual.  Don’t forget to turn up the speakers, and enjoy!!

There ya have it!! There should be at least one, maybe two more videos to release from the summer season, and then it’s on to Offseason Obliteration 2009. Expect to see some new cars (and trucks) out doing tandem in the snow this year, and maybe some other surprises as the snow begins to fall!!

Severe Lack of Updates Vol. 2

So I decided that before making my next post on here, I would cut the video. Unfortunately, life being what it is, that took a little longer than originally expected. DMCC Round 4 was a great event, with lots of good driving, and a crapload of wrecks with the cement barriers that were used as clipping points. It was a great showing for Curtis La Vigne competing in the Amateur Driver Search and getting a 2nd place with his s13 drift-camino.
The weekend was going well for the rest of the Drift Posse crew until competition started, where Brad faced Matt Waldin in the first round. It was a close fought battle, but Waldin was able to gain the victory over Brad. Pat looked to be on his way up to the top of another podium when he faced Matt Waldin. In the following lap, Pat was able to run a good line and stay on Waldin’s bumper, but in lining up to lead, Pat realized he had broken an axle, likely as a result of the rough airport concrete track. Using his allotted five minutes to fix the car to no avail, Pat was forced to give the win to Waldin. An unfortunate end to an otherwise exciting event, however, lots of fun was had, and I made a video to try and document as such! Here it is! Enjoy!

Severe lack of updates…

Wow…sincerest apologies to those who actually frequent this site and have noticed the horrible, horrible job I’ve done of keeping this thing up to date. It really is a lot more work than I originally expected, and now I know why good webmasters actually get paid to do their job. Anyway, I’ll accept the title of “Lacklustre Webmaster” for now, and will make an attempt at updating this site a little bit more often. So, here’s the goods, starting with DMCC Round 3!!

DMCC Round 3

Round 3 was a bit of a crazy one. For the first time, DMCC was to be held at Riverside Speedway in St. Croix, outside of Quebec City. The thrill of seeing a new track had the Drift Posse boys fired up and ready for some face-ripping action, BUT…..late in the week it was announced that rain would be coming down pretty hard that weekend, and it was expected the track would be wet. Practice day went okay for the Drift Posse boys, with no major problems to be had. Surprisingly, the track stayed mostly dry, and things were looking pretty good for a competition day of insanity. Opening the hotel room curtains on Sunday morning ushered forth a wonderful blast of….grey skys and wet window. It had rained throughout the night, and it was fairly obvious that it wasn’t going to let up anytime soon. Brad Carlton suffered from overheating issues which had been plaguing him throughout the weekend, and ended up keeping him on the sidelines for race day. Pat Cyr was having a good morning of practice, but couldn’t pull out a victory against former champ Fred Girard.

That’s a pretty good description, now here’s the video so you can see some of this stuff for yourself. Since it was raining, I was unable to get a lot of footage, but you’ll at least get to see the track layout. Enjoy!

As the title implies, The Posse Returns to the Drift Mania Canadian Drifting Championship. I don’t think any amount of hype or build up will really prepare you for this vid, so I’ll just give you the goods: this is my review of DMCC Round 1, DMCC Round 2, and Peter’s Day at Shannonville. Here it is! Buckle in and get ready for the ride!! And turn those damned speakers up, wussy!!!

Now for the first time on Vimeo!!! So I can track my videos AND have good quality! Sweet!!! Anybody reading this should make a point of sending this video out to all of their friends and family. They need to see this too!

DMCC Round 2 – Drift Posse strikes again!!

So, DMCC Round 2 at St. Eustache Speedway in Montreal, Quebec has gone down and the results are in: another place atop the podium for Pat Cyr!

Also, another awesome placing in the top 16 by Drift Posse’s vicious newcomer to DMCC, Brad Carlton, who ended up on the losing end of an intense battle with the number 2 driver this year in Matt Waldin. Carlton put up a fight though, taking Waldin to a “One more time”, as well as chewing on Matt’s rear bumper like the animal he is. With this qualify, Carlton has jumped into the number 9 spot in the rankings, putting him into contention for a top 10 finish in his first year of professional competition.

Pat Cyr’s trip up to the podium was not an easy one, being pitted against fellow Ontario driver Justin Forsyth in the top 16 round. Unfortunately, a crash in the first corner ended Forsyth’s day early, and sent Cyr up to the top 8 round to go against “Steady” Freddy Girard, the former 2-time reigning DMCC series Champ. Girard put up a struggle, forcing Cyr into several “One more time” rounds leading to a spinout by Fred in a following lap. This would put Cyr through to the Top 4 round against number 2 contender Matt Waldin!! Pat Cyr was out for blood to avenge the defeat of his teammate at the hands of Waldin, and blood was what he got. An intense round of tandem led to Cyr’s hand getting raised by the hot hand-raiser girl, which meant Cyr would move on to the Top 2 round of competition! In a total underdog-story surprise, pro-am competitor Marc Landreville in a SR powered 180sx climbed the other side of the tournament ladder, to meet Pat Cyr at the top (Note: I mention that Marc’s car is SR powered to point out that in a roster stacked primarily with V8 powered cars, the Top 2 for Round 2 consisted of both 4-cylinder vehicles. You can take what you will from it). An intense battle ensued, pushing the drivers into three “One more time” rounds. Before the third “One more time”, Landreville decided to change tires. Unfortunately, this changing of equipment seemed to do more bad than good, as on a leading lap Landreville gained a great head of speed into the first corner, but bobbled somewhere along the line and ended up in a bad understeer…headed straight for the wall. The carnage that followed resulted in what looks to have been a fairly badly hurt 180sx, but fortunately no injury to the driver. And there ya have it!! It wasn’t an easy trip up the ladder, but Pat Cyr and the little green Hachi have done it once again!!

Needless to say, things have started picking up in the Drift Posse camp, and as we speak projects are underway to expand operations immensely by the time Round 3 rolls around at Ste. Croix Speedway. Keep your eyes open for a video, to be posted within the next couple of days, as well as for our merch, which we will be premiering at DMCC Round 3!!

That’s all for now!
More updates later!

Drift Posse News Update!

Wow! I definitely started slacking on getting this up to date, but with DMCC in full effect now, I think I’ll try to keep things fresh.

Anyway, first item in the news that I clearly forgot to mention on here is that the Posse visited Englishtown, New Jersey, and decided to show those American boys that the Canadians can play as well. That video is up on Streetfire now, and will make it’s way here onto the Posse website very soon.

And now, for the big news: DMCC Round 1 is in the books, and Pat Cyr of the Drift Posse walked away on top of the podium!! This is a really exciting win for Pat, and we’re extremely excited to continue supporting him in his bid to be the 2009 DMCC Season Champion.

Also big humongous props to Drift Posse’s newest bloodthirsty maniac, Brad Carlton, in qualifying and getting some points up on the board in his first round of professional competition.

This is just a sign of good things to come, so all you people keep your eyes open…Drift Posse is takin’ over!!

So, after going through the whole mess with Streetfire and reduction of quality and all that, I figured this video would look better streamed directly from DriftPosse.com, so that anybody who’s as picky as I am can see the vid in it’s clearest state…or at least, the clearest that you can get it over the internet. OH, and in case you didn’t see the credits at Streetfire, I’ll put ‘em here too. The edits are by me, Dan Cyr. The music is In Space by Royksopp. And the drivers, of course, are the Drift Posse. Anyway, here it is:
Offseason Obliteration!

I think the clearer picture and sound definitely do this video a bit more justice. As much as I love having the hit counter with Streetfire, nothing beats good quality. Watch away, and enjoy!
